CALLING ALL SUBMISSIONS TO THE FLOOR

HAVE YOU RECENTLY DONE A GENETIC TEST TO

"FIND YOUR ROOTS" 

Then we want to share your story on WHUT!

 

WHUT’ wants you to be part of our upcoming OVEE Screening. Due to health related restrictions, social distancing and Covid 19, we’re asking you to send us your "family roots" story!

 

Did you discover recently that you are related to someone famous like Edgar Allen Poe, or learned the deep traces of your DNA that links you back to places you do not know! Send us a 60 second video and pictures of your findings TODAY or post to Social Media tagging #WHUTtv and #MyRoots before Friday, October 2nd, 2020 - 5pm EST. To be featured! 

 

.Submission is open only to legal residents of Washington, DC., Maryland and Virginia who reside within the WHUT TV broadcast viewing area.

TO PARTICIPATE

Qualified entrants shall submit a video no more than ONE minute. If it its longer than ONE minute, it will not be looked at. The Producer will select three stories to feature on air. We’re looking for unique talent, creative presentation, and good technical quality. And material must be appropriate for general audiences. Producer reserves the right to edit and/or alter any selected submission. Please keep a copy of your original submission.

DEADLINES

Videos will be accepted immediately through Friday, October 2, 2020 at 5pm EST. Entrants may submit by uploading a video to Vimeo, YouTube or other video uploading site and then send the submission's URL to K_branton@howard.edu

​

Please submit your highest quality video file as recommended by the video uploading service you choose, e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, etc.,, Acceptable file formats are: MPEG (.mpg/.mpeg/.m4v), QuickTime Movie (.mov), AVI (.avi), and Windows Media Video (.WMV). Producer particularly recommends MPEG4 (MPG) compression types (CODECS) such as H.264, DivX, Xvid, and AVC.

PROCEDURES

Final selections may be used in any manner, promotional or otherwise to support the FINDING YOUR ROOTS production in any and all media and/or technologies now known in perpetuity. Producer is not responsible for lost, damaged or misdirected videos under any circumstances. And all decisions are final and non-appealable.

​

RELEASES

Those selected will sign general Releases. Releases will include, among other things, a statement that the videos were the exclusive property of the entrant(s) at the time they were submitted. Releases must be obtained from all identifiable persons depicted, seen or heard in the videos, as well as the

person(s) who recorded the video. A parent or guardian must sign the Release forms for minors.
